What is that white haze on new pavers?
New concrete pavers often show a chalky white haze in the first weeks or months. It's called efflorescence: natural salts inside the pavers rising to the surface as moisture dries out. It's normal and doesn't hurt the pavers.
Why waiting matters
If pavers are sealed before that haze has come out, the sealer can trap it under the surface. Waiting also gives the joint sand time to settle into the gaps. That's why MOM comes back to seal your new pavers once they've settled, instead of sealing on installation day. We'll let you know when yours are ready.
What sealing does for your pavers
- Protects the color from the strong Florida sun.
- Keeps the joint sand in place, so pavers stay tight and level.
- Makes cleaning easier and helps keep dirt and stains from soaking in.
The best time of year to seal
In Central Florida, the dry season (about November to April) is sealing season. Fewer afternoon storms means the sealer has time to cure properly.
Already have pavers?
MOM has always cleaned and sealed existing pavers. Older pavers need a good cleaning before they're resealed. Call or text 352-808-2082 and ask about paver sealing.
